Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Chester Cooper outlining the government’s recent mission to Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Cooper saying there were significant linkages created and possibilities of investments.

In Qatar, the DPM says airlift links were established.

While an air service agreement between the two countries already exists, Cooper says the delegation sought to attract them to The Bahamas by creating a hub for the region.

In the short term, he said Qatar has offered technical assistance for BahamasAir in hopes of improving operations at the airline.

This will make way for Bahamians to travel to Qatar for training and possible developing an institute in The Bahamas.

The deputy prime minister also visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He says officials expressed interest in local programs like Bahamahost and noted that the plan is to attract investments from that region.

He said The Bahamas has also offered technical assistance in the cruise business.
