EQUADOR – A record 22 metric tonnes of cocaine have been seized in a military operation in Ecuador on Monday.

Authorities say the operation, which followed six months of planning and surveillance, is one of the country’s biggest drug seizures now two weeks into an “Internal armed conflict” against organised crime.

In a statement the military said the drugs found in 733 parcels, were likely intended for transport across Asia, Europe and the Americas.
