UNITED STATES – We know, we know – it’s only been a week – and yes we’re homers who believe objective journalism is overrated – but that doesn’t make us wrong – what’s happening in Philly right is special.

Rookie sensation VJ Edgecombe, the vet Eric Gordon, and the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Orlando Magic 136-124 on Monday night (October 27th, 2025). 

Edgecombe had 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. 

He became the first guard in NBA history to average at least 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists over his first three career games

Gordon made his season debut with 8 points in 11 minutes off the bench. He shot 3-4 from the field and 2-3 from beyond the arc. 

After a disappointing 2024-25 campaign that left the team near the bottom of the standings, the 76ers have opened the new season with a perfect 3-0 record, the team’s best start since 2019.

BAHAMIANS SEE ACTION ON A BUSY MONDAY NIGHT

There was even more action on the courts in a busy Monday night forBahamians across the NBA.

Ayton was a bright spot for the Los Angeles Lakers despite a 122-108 loss to his former team, the Portland Trail Blazers. 

He finished with 16 points and 8 rebounds in 35 minutes, shooting 8-15 from the field. 

on the west coast, Buddy Hield and the Golden State Warriors continued their strong start to the season with a 131-118 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. 

Hield, however, had another slow scoring night with just 5 points on 2-7 shooting, 0-5 from three in 18 minutes. 

It was rough night in Dallas for Klay Thompson and for the Mavericks against the defending champs.

Thompson hit a pair of threes and finished with eight points in the mavs 101-94 loss to the thunder.

GREENE MAKES DEBUT WITH UNIV. OF MARYLAND BALTIMORE COUNTY

It’s been a long journey to Division I basketball for Paul Greene, and you can tell from his debut, he plans to make the most of it.

Greene scored 10 points for his UMBC Retrievers narrowly fell to Maryland 82-81 in exhibition play at the Xfinity Center in Maryland.

Greene was one of six UMBC players in double figures, and they led late before a final-minute three-pointer lifted Maryland to the win. 

UMBC will open their regular season on November 4th against Penn State York.

Greene began his career at Chipola Junior College, where he helped them to become Juco national title contenders, then moved on to Division II with Southern New Hampshire, where he was a Northeast-10 conference second team selection and tournament MVP.
