NEW YORK, U.S.A. – Before his name is called in tonight’s NBA draft, VJ Edgecombe traces his development back to his local opportunities before the international spotlight.

Edgecombe’s relationship with fellow national team members began when he received an invite to Buddy Hield’s Elite Development Camp at just 13-years-old.

With Team Bahamas at the 2024 FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament in Valencia, Spain, he averaged a team‑leading 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and two steals per game.

Franco Miller Jr. was also a member of that team and has also witnessed much of Edgecombe’s progress.

Basketball

Bahamian basketball prospect Chris Brown Jr. continues to rise on the American high school recruiting scene.

He recently receiving his first NCAA Division I scholarship offers from both the University of Houston and University of Texas San Antonio.

A class of 2027 center at Dream City Christian Academy in Arizona, Brown has emerged as one of the top recruits of the class of 2027.

Brown had several standout performances on the Nike Eybl Circuit with the Utah prospects.

He was invited to the prestigious Nike elite top 100 camp earlier this year, placing him among the top-ranked sophomores in the country.

After receiving an offer from the defending national runner-up Cougars, Brown’s national recruiting profile should continue to rise over his junior and senior high school seasons.

MLB

Jazz Chisholm Jr. had a mixed outing Tuesday night in the New York Yankees’ 5–4 extra-inning loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

Chisholm went 2-4 at the plate and scored a run, continuing a solid stretch offensively, but that night took a turn in the ninth inning when he was ejected for arguing a called strike with home plate umpire Mark Wegner.

It was his second ejection of the season.

Chisholm’s exit forced an infield reshuffle for the Yankees  and they fell to 1–6 on the year in extra-inning games.
