JAMAICA – The Jamaica Public Service Company, JPS, says it has completed restoration of electricity to the Roaring River National Water Commission pump, which serves residents across Westmoreland.

The restoration required rebuilding over 10 miles of electricity lines from the Paradise substation to the Roaring River Pump and more than 100 linesmen were involved.

As of Tuesday, approximately 51,000 JPS customers remained without electricity in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.

But, electricity had been restored to the majority of customers in the hardest hit parishes, which are mostly in Western Jamaica.
