NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Exuma businesses are still reaping the harvest from the island’s regatta last week with one hotel operator telling our Berthony McDermott that the property has seen an 80% uptick.

The Peace and Plenty resort, located in the heart of George Town, Exuma boasts of an 80% hike in profit due to the regatta this past weekend.

Principal Owner Steve Harrington, confirmed as much, saying it was much needed.

The Exuma Regatta began Wednesday evening and wrapped up with a closing ceremony and cultural component Saturday night.

The island was packed as locals and guests all descended.

Officials have long bragged about the economic benefits for the island.

To accommodate the load, Harrington said the resort had to implement initiatives like bringing on new staff.

He added the influx was expected.

Hotels and rental car companies weren’t the only businesses to benefit from the much-anticipated event.
