GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Social media went into a frenzy after learning that Fair Play restaurant and bar had closed their doors.

The restaurant that first opened its doors six years ago is owned Gary Semelfort. It’s been a popular attraction for residents.

Some on Facebook say “Fair Play is an asset to Port Lucaya” while others say “bring back Fair Play.”

Semelfort alleges on Saturday morning his business was boarded up and locked by Port Lucaya management but says it was all a misunderstanding.

Our News reached out to Port Lucaya Marketplace management, who promised to provide a statement on the matter.

The owner says fair play will be back in operation as of February 1st as both parties are satisfied following their meeting adding that he signed a three-year lease.

He says he has seen all of the positive support on social media and he’s thankful.

Member of the Grand Bahama business community Darren Cooper also showed his support.
