NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A woman who lost her fiancé at sea one year ago thinks more could have been done to rescue him.

She speaks with Jerome Sawyer about how the ordeal was handled.

One year ago Terran Maynard left Nassau for Abaco, but he never arrived.

His girlfriend, Sandia Rolle, says his boat started taking on water hours into the voyage.
She claims he called the authorities for help that evening, but none came.

The search widened to Bimini, Grand Bahama, and Abaco.

She says her calls to the Coast Guard and Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association helped widen the search.

Rolle claims the same courtesies were not extended by the local authorities, in particular the Royal Bahamas Defense Force.

One year later, there’s a lot of hurt and disappointment.

Our repeated requests for a response from the RBDF on this case all were unanswered.
