NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Felicity Johnson is a breast cancer survivor who beat the odds, despite not having early-detection on her side. She’s with us five years later to share her story. She shared what she feels helped her beyond the doctors and sometimes, community is part of the cure.

Felicity Johnson says she took the diagnosis with a pragmatic attitude, and when friends suggested she consider leaving her job as general counsel at Cable Bahamas.

The survivor’s advice to those with friends and loved ones with cancer is simple: be there for them.

If you’re currently grappling with a diagnosis or undergoing cancer treatment, Johnson says mindset is everything. Even if that means being selective with the information you burden yourself with.
