FLORIDA, UNITED STATES – Florida carried out another execution last night.

Mark Allen Geralds, convicted of stabbing a Panama City mother to death back in 1989, was put to death by lethal injection just after 6pm.

The 58-year-old was first sentenced to death in 1990, resentenced in 1992 and told a judge last month he would not pursue any further appeals.

This marked Florida’s 18th execution of the year, extending its record and keeping it the most active execution state in America for 2025.

Court records say Tressa Pettibone’s 8-year-old son found his mother beaten and stabbed after a home invasion and evidence linked Geralds to the crime, including pawned jewelry with her blood on it.

Another Florida execution is already set for next week, as the state continues a year of unusually high capital punishment cases.
