NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An American tourist who inadvertently brought ammunition on her cruise to The Bahamas has avoided jail time.

The four rounds of .22 ammunition went unnoticed when 58-year-old Florida resident Michelle Hollenback boarded the Utopia of the Seas in Orlando.

But security screeners found the ammunition in Hollenback’s purse when she tried to reboard the ship at the Nassau Cruise Port on February 21.

Hollenback, who has a licensed gun in Florida, told the police that she mistakenly brought the ammunition that she uses to shoot rats and snakes on her vacation.

She pleaded guilty at her arraignment before Magistrate Lennox Coleby and paid a $1,000 fine to avoid spending nine months in prison.
