NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former Chief Parliamentary Clerk Maurice Tynes says while there is no requirement for North Abaco MP Kirk Cornish to resign, he believes he should give up his seat.

Cornish was arraigned Wednesday on charges of rape, assault, and threats of death.

Cornish is the second sitting MP to be charged in recent months.

Long Island MP Adrian Gibson is also standing trial for bribery and money laundering charges.

Both MP’s are continuing to represent their constituents.

Should either of them be convicted, Tynes says there may be a greater urge for a resignation.
