NASSAU, BAHAMAS – “This is bigger than the Royal Bahamas Police Force, what we are facing now impacts upon this nation as a whole,” former National Security Minister Marvin Dames shared on the U.S. Indictment that accuses several high-ranking Bahamian police officers of trafficking drugs.

Dames warns this case could negatively impact the country’s economy and international reputation.

He’s also responding to comments made by Commissioner of Police Clayton Fernander during his national address on Sunday. Fernander mentioned plans to speak with dames regarding the matter.

Dames says in the past, under his leadership of key departments within the Royal Bahamas Police Force, there has been collaboration with other law enforcement agencies about matters but that doesn’t appear to be the case this time around.

Dames also calling on the government to stop engaging in what he describes as a “spin game”.

The former minister also says the police should not investigate themselves.

Dames insists his conscience is clear.
