NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Tensions are still high as the government continues to insist the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) owes them over $300 million, something the GBPA flat-out denies.

Former Member of Parliament for Pineridge, Frederick McAlpine,  commented on the issue Monday morning.

McAlpine asked how things in Freeport would be managed if the government took over responsibility for the city.

He also says he feels the money grab seems desperate considering the hundreds of millions of dollars the government gets from Freeport’s taxpayers annually.

When asked why he feels the Davis administration has chosen now to act.

He says one can see a preview of how the government would handle Freeport by looking at areas they already manage.

As for his opinion on the current management of the GBPA.
