NASSAU, BAHAMAS – From cobwebs and mechanical bats to life-like mannequins that make you look twice, club Aura’s Auraween party on October 25th lived up to its theme – “Frightful Fantasy.”

Award-winning DJ and artist, DJ Puffy, says Aura nightclub’s attention to detail is one of the reasons he returned for their annual Halloween party, Auraween.

Andre, better known as Puffy, is a Barbadian DJ, who is celebrated as the first from the region to win the Red Bull 3Style world DJ championship, and for also pioneering a distinct Caribbean EDM sound.

Before hitting the stage, he spoke about his journey from local radio to international tours, saying the move was scary at first, comparing it to “leaving a cocoon and turning into a butterfly”.

“I was definitely scared, I was scared, I mean it’s like leaving a cocoon and turning into a butterfly, you got to shed that…when [you’re] going into unknown territory and thing, so it’s like you don’t know what’s happening, its unexpected, but you got to double down on yourself.”

From Europe to Asia, Africa, and a Vegas residency, Puffy’s rise has been global, and his performance last Saturday drew hundreds of fans to the club.

He says for DJs facing stagnation, social media is a must, and success requires a business mind.

His final piece of advice? Never wear a mask, and be authentic to who you are.

“You ain’t gotta put nothing out there that you ain’t want to put out there, so don’t let nobody force you to do nothing that you ain’t want do,” Puffy said.
