GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Grand Bahama Humane Society has been a part of the local community for nearly 60 years, offering invaluable services for furry friends and residents across the island. The Grander View explores their impact and their struggles, with the president saying they are in great need of assistance.

That is according to the president of the Grand Bahama Humane Society, Tiffany Dennison. For decades, the nonprofit has been helping to keep the stray animal population under control, whether through medical assistance, spay and neuter initiatives or housing.

Dennison says the organization is currently at full capacity, caring for about 110 dogs and a pig, all of which are up for adoption.

The humane society is run by a board of volunteers, and those interested in offering assistance are encouraged to get involved. Dennison notes that operating the organization costs about $900,000 annually.

Despite the challenges, she says the society remains grateful to those who continue to support its work in any way they can.
