GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Sandra Laing is the Assistant Secretary for the Grand Bahama Secondary Schools Athletics Association and she spoke to Our News about this week’s volleyball championships.

The boys’ championships already wrapped up before midterms with St. George’s beating Lucaya International for the senior boys title. Lucaya International beat Eight Mile Rock to take the junior boys division.

They also swept the junior and senior girls, adding to the junior boys’ title they won before the break.

The school’s coach Latoy Williams is proud of his students’ commitment.

NBA

Deandre Ayton recorded another double-double to help his Portland Trailblazers to a second straight win, this one came against the Detroit Pistons 110-101.

The big man had 16 points and 11 rebounds and he locked up to the tune of five blocks and a steal to help the Blazers get the win.

Buddy Hield came off the bench to get seven points, grab five rebounds and dish out four assists as his Pacers were blown out by the Boston Celtics 155-104.

And Klay Thompson scored 14 points two of which came on an incredible, kobe-esque pull-up at the elbow with no time left to win the game 102-101 against the Sacramento Kings.
