GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Nakira Wilchcombe serves as the Vice President of the Building and Development Department at the Grand Bahama Port Authority, a role crucial to the organization.

But what exactly does this department encompass? It is the technical arm of the port authority, overseeing geographical information services, city maintenance, environmental building and town planning.

The department also launched initiatIves like “Keep Grand Bahama Clean”

Wilchcombe stresses behind the scenes, thEre is a dedicated team of professionals working tirelessly.

One of the concerns raised by residents is dilapidated buildings within the city, an issue that falls under the building and development department.

Wilchcombe says her team is aware of the concerns and through their legal department have proposed legislation to help strengthen environmental management.

She says they will remain constant in their efforts.

And when asked about her inspiration Wilchcombe shared that she loves when she can help people, no matter who they are.
