NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Global supply chain issues will not impact the spiny lobster industry’s ability to distribute their catch internationally, according to Marine Resources Minister Clay Sweeting.

Sweeting said so far it seems the season, which began on August 1, is going well. Sweeting also telling reporters that the administration has no plan to repeal the Fisheries Act.

Bahamian fishermen have long complained of foreigners marrying Bahamians to benefit from the local fishing industry.

While he said it is not on the agenda at this time, Sweeting said the administration has other initiatives on the table.
