Government Advised to Scrap Prospect Ridge Project

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Housing and Transport Minister Jobeth Coleby-Davis revealing today that technical advisors have recommended the government abandon the Prospect Ridge Housing development for young professionals. This as the Davis administration launched its affordable housing program.

The Davis administration has not been shy about its criticism of the Prospect Ridge Development for young professionals, and those critiques are continuing to mount.

The minister, who spoke on the sidelines of the launch of a new housing initiative, is now revealing a technical team has told the government to abandon the project.

The once highly-anticipated housing project for young professionals announced under the previous Minnis administration was put on the back burner late last year and branded nothing more than a political ploy by the Davis administration, with revelations that its environmental impact assessment was rejected after major questions arose.

Coleby-Davis says no master plan had been created for the project, nor had a topography study been completed despite the Minnis administration accepting applications from approximately 1,500 eager Bahamians.

She says applicants for the development should not lose hope.
