HAITI – The Haitian Times reports that a Haitian human rights group is warning that a series of government contracts could cost the country billions of dollars.
HAITI – The Haitian Times reports that a Haitian human rights group is warning that a series of government contracts could cost the country billions of dollars.
In a report released March 4th, the watchdog group Fondasyon Je Klere says at least $137 million in deals signed under Prime Minister Alix Fils-Aimé could shift key state responsibilities, including prisons, security and border contro to foreign private companies.
The group calls the agreements lacking transparency urging anti-corruption investigations.
The Haitian government has not publicly responded to the allegations.
