NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard said the Davis administration squandered an opportunity by shooting down the select committee on immigration in Parliament on Monday.

Pintard suggests the overwhelming no was a political move.

In the House of Assembly on Monday, 22 MP’s voted to not appoint a select committee, while five voted for the committee. There were 10 MP’s missing including the Prime Minister.

The country’s immigration challenges took center stage in recent weeks after 400 migrants were apprehended in Bahamian waters in January alone.
