GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The Grand Bahama Health Services Retirees Alliance is preparing to celebrate one year since becoming a constitutionally bound organization made up of a cross-section of professional disciplines and skills. Now, the retirees say they are committed to continuing to offer their service to the healthcare system in the north.

Retired healthcare professionals in the north are coming together to continue to provide quality health care to patients and assistance to those in the field. President of the Grand Bahama Health Services Retirees Alliance, Valeria Burrows, says although retired, they believe there is still much more to give. She says they plan to offer soft skills and professional support where and when necessary.

Vice President of the Retirees Alliance, Rev. Cherlyn Bain, says they still have a wealth of knowledge to pass on, thanks to countless decades of combined experience. She says the intent is to increase their volunteer services as they enter their second year. One of their initiatives is establishing a help desk.

The alliance is also looking forward to offering assistance within the busy hospital and local clinics.

And if you’re a retiree with a green thumb, trustee Alexander Burrows is inviting you to help in establishing a garden at the Rand Memorial Hospital.
