GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – A decades-old bridge connecting Freeport to Taino Beach is in need of repairs. Traffic has been reduced from four lanes to two, causing inconvenience for residents.

Charles Moss – Resident, Grand Bahama
“To come and have a bridge you’ve been used to traveling over for years now in a state of disrepair feels like it’s been put on the back burner instead of being a priority.”

Increased traffic from new developments has added stress to the bridge.

Charles Moss – Resident, Grand Bahama
“The only thing separating us now is a PVC pipe in the middle of the road. If you’re unfamiliar with the area, you could accidentally drive in the wrong direction and cause an accident.”

Some residents claim the bridge is deteriorating underneath.

Samuel Smith Jr. – Resident, Grand Bahama
“A big chunk of it dropped off underneath. People in the area with knowledge of construction can see it.”

Olivia Pages – Owner, Stoned Crab Restaurant
“We are patiently waiting, but we’re getting concerned about the safety.”
