GUATEMALA – Guatemalan police conducted a raid on Thursday at the premises of NGO Save The Children following allegations of child abuse, according to authorities.

The intervention was ordered by the special prosecutor against impunity after reports of abuses against Guatemalan children on a transnational scale, particularly involving migrant children.

Save The Children released a statement on Friday denouncing the raid as unprecedented, asserting they had never assisted in moving children and teenagers out of the country.

Rafael Curruchiche, head of the special prosecutor against impunity, was included on the United States’ engel list in 2022, which identifies corrupt actors in the region.
