Hakeem Jeffries Wins Re-Election As House Democratic Leader

USA – House leader Hakeem Jeffries won re-election Tuesday as the democratic leader, solidifying his role despite the party’s failure to reclaim the house majority.

Jeffries, the highest-ranking black official in congress, was chosen during an internal vote at The Capitol.

While he will be the democratic nominee for speaker, the gavel is expected to stay with republican speaker Mike Johnson, as the GOP maintains control.
