Health Minister: Homosexuals At High Risk

As the government continues monitoring the monkeypox outbreak, the health minister says homosexuals are among those at high-risk for contracting the disease.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Ministry of Health is working closely with the Pan American Health Organization to fight monkeypox. So far, The Bahamas has recorded one case of the virus, now declared a public health emergency by the World Health Organization.

The health minister is saying that government will continue monitoring the outbreak and he also added that homosexual are among those at high-risk for contracting the disease.

Dr. Darville says training for monkeypox testing is now complete at the National Reference Lab.

The health minister says following discussions with the Pan American Health Organization. The organization has agreed to help bring monkeypox the vaccines in country.
