NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A packed theater, big laughs, and a lot of buzz about Bahamian filmmaking – that was the scene last Saturday night at the Atlantis theatre, where moviegoers turned out in large numbers for the premiere of the Bahamian film “Here Comes Trouble.”

The crowd reaction to the comedy-drama was immediate.

Mario & Tiffany Curry – Attendees

“It got to be a part two, have to be, because we want to see what happen…come on now that ain’t the finish story.”

Ketress Knowles – Attendee

“Beginning to the end it was top 10, it was awesome, it was hilarious.”

Troy Taylor – Attendee

“It was really good, it was really really good. I enjoyed it, it was a lot of laughter, I loved all of the actors in it.”

The comedy-drama delivered plenty of moments that had audiences laughing until their stomachs hurt, but it also carried powerful messages throughout the storyline.

Lead actress Marrisa McClarke, who played Arnett in the film, says even though her character was portrayed as somewhat of an antagonist, there were moments where she found herself sympathizing with her.

She also encouraged moviegoers to look beyond the laughter, and take something meaningful away from the story, reminding audiences to give themselves grace and check in with their emotional well-being.

Marissa McClarke – Lead Actress

“I experienced it, so there were times it got a little uncomfortable for me because I had to confront somethings personally, but it was easy to connect to her. I definitely sympathize because you miss out on a lot”

“Focus on your heart, make sure there’s nothing hidden in there. It’s kinda easy to be functional with it, like a functional addict. You can go to work, be in relationships and not even notice it there. It festers, so I would tell them to do heart checks often.”

The film does carry strong values, but of course it’s the humor that many viewers say stood out the most.

One of the film’s actors even shared a lighter moment from the story, giving audiences a taste of the comedic lines they can expect throughout the film.

Frantz Ferguson – Cast Member, “Here Comes Trouble”

“One of my favorite lines was when I was speaking to Darcy (now you’re acting so you have to look at her) hey hello this Darcy, oh Darcy I can’t wait to see you, I can’t wait ah aha ah, I coming now.”

If the crowd’s reaction is any indication, “Here Comes Trouble” may not be the last we see of this story, with many moviegoers already hoping for a part two.
