Herschel Walker Assumes Role of 14th United States Ambassador To The Bahamas

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The United States Embassy in Nassau is pleased to announce the arrival of Herschel Walker, the fourteenth United States Ambassador to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.  

At a ceremony hosted at Government House today, Ambassador Walker presented his letters of credence to Her Excellency Dame Cynthia A. Pratt, marking the beginning of his tenure. The ceremony was followed by a flag raising at the Ambassador’s official residence.

Ambassador Walker was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 7, 2025, and sworn-in as Ambassador-Designate at the White House on Monday, October 17, 2025.  

Ambassador Walker will immediately begin meeting with Bahamian government officials, along with leaders in business, education, culture, and sports to discuss the many shared interests of the United States and The Bahamas.

He will also receive briefings from U.S. Embassy leadership whose work protects the safety and wellbeing of American citizens and advances the security and prosperity of both our nations. 

“I am deeply honored to arrive in The Bahamas as the United States Ambassador and grateful to the President and the U.S. Senate for entrusting me with this important responsibility,” said Ambassador Walker.

“The Bahamas and the United States share a rich history and enduring partnership, and I am excited to work alongside our Bahamian friends to strengthen the bonds between our nations. My wife and I have visited the islands several times, and I have great admiration for the warmth and resilience of the Bahamian people. I look forward to engaging with communities throughout The Bahamas, and I am committed to advancing our shared interests and values in the months and years ahead.”
