GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The environmental impact of Buckeye Bahamas Hubs’s oil spill on Wednesday morning will likely be minimal thanks to their immediate response, according to Earthcare Founder and Marine Biologist, Gail Woon.

Buckeye partners released a statement on Wednesday saying the leak was spotted around 6 am that morning, and that approximately 5 to 10 barrels of fuel had been released, although not all of that ended up in the water.

For context, the standard measure of a barrel is 42 U.S. gallons.

Woon says while the refinery hasn’t had the best environmental management in decades past, she applauds their current efforts to keep things clean.
