NASSAU, BAHAMAS – In a statement issued Wednesday night, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force said they understood Captain Whitfield Neely’s concerns and deeply sympathized with him during this difficult time. The force currently doesn’t have a formal welfare fund to assist members facing similar situations.

Neely, a decorated national hero and survivor of the HMBS Flamingo, told reporters the lack of help was a slap in the face. Despite the situation, the All Saints Anglican Parish made a donation to the Neely family on Wednesday.
