GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Several streets set to undergo name changes early this year as the country prepares to celebrate 50 years of independence this July. The Grand Bahama Port Authority launching the “Icons of the City Renaming Initiative” and President, Ian Rolle, tells us its all in an effort to celebrate Grand Bahamians that have made invaluable contributions to community and country.

Two additional streets will also be re-named this year, but Rolle says as of right now, their locations are top secret. The downtown area will also undergo a renaming exercise.

Now, you may recall that Solomon’s held a grand opening for its new downtown location. Rolle says since then, the economic climate has been looking up.
