Jamaica Accedes To Afreximbank

JAMAICA – Jamaica has officially joined the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), becoming the 13th CARICOM member state to sign on.

The move which was sealed during the 49th CARICOM Heads of Government meeting, opens access to an additional US$1.5 billion in financing for Jamaica and Caribbean partners, bringing Afreximbank’s total approved regional facility to US$3 billion.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness called it a “strategic step” to boost trade, investment, and development in key sectors like logistics, agriculture, and the creative industries.

Afreximbank President Benedict Oramah said Jamaica’s accession advances the vision of a united “Global Africa” and deepens south-south cooperation.
