NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Jamaican man who pleaded guilty to an armed robbery spree has been jailed for 10 years as part of a plea deal.

After his release from prison, Wayne Smith will be placed on three years’ probation.

If he is convicted of any offense during that period, Smith will be sentenced to an additional five years behind bars.

On September 10, 2022, Smith and others robbed 700 Wines and Spirits on Bernard Road of a deposit bag containing $41,000.

Two days later, Smith and his accomplices held up Restaurant and Supplies Number 2 on Mackey Street of a deposit bag that contained an unknown amount of money. He also robbed a cash register of $6,400.

On August 31, 2022, Smith and others robbed Fortune Supermarket on Prince Charles Drive of $5,500 cash.

Justice Gregory Hilton ordered the 10-year sentences to be served at the same time.

The sentences will be deducted by the 10 months and 26 days that Smith has already spent in custody.
