NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Jamaican woman convicted of killing her girlfriend during an argument is seeking to appeal her conviction and 42-year sentence.

The Court of Appeal Wednesday ordered that Nadisha Beckford be represented by a public defender and set a hearing date for April 26.

Beckford brutally attacked Lakeisha Mackey in the parking lot of the Mayfair Hotel on the evening of February 20, 2021.

After the attack Beckford got into her car and drove off, leaving Mackey to die.

Mackey was rushed to hospital and underwent surgery at the hospital, where she died on February 22, 2021.

Jurors rejected Beckford’s claim that she killed Mackey in self defense and convicted her of murder last June.
