NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 42-year-old Jamaican woman has been charged after police say they found a loaded gun in her purse.

Prosecutors allege that Natasha Henderson-Sands was found with a Glock 23 .40 pistol and four rounds of .40 ammunition on November 22.

Police were on patrol on Plantol Street at around 9pm on November 22 when they stopped and searched a group of people who were standing in the street.

They allegedly found the weapon on the accused during the search.

Henderson-Sands, who’s in the country on a spousal permit, denied the allegations at her arraignment before Magistrate Lennox Coleby.

Bail has been set at $7,000 on the condition that she wears an ankle monitor and surrenders her passport to the court and checks in with police four times a week.

The accused returns to court on February 19 for the start of her trial.
