NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas could be further ahead on the international sports stage if we took sports development seriously, according to Bahamian basketball star, Jonquel Jones.

Jones recently sat down with our Sasha Lightbourne, explaining her views on sports development in the country.

In track and field, we have Shaunae Miller-Uibo, ‘Speedy’ Steven Gardiner, Anthonique Strachan and a host of others.

On the basketball court, Buddy Hield, Deandre Ayton, Kai Jones are among those representing The Bahamas.

On the baseball diamond, there’s Jazz Chisholm, Lucious Fox, and so many other athletes performing at the top levels in sports around the world.

However, Jones believes The Bahamas can do better. But, that will come with a concerted effort and consistent emphasis on sports development throughout the country.

Unlike her basketball journey, Jones believes staying at home is also key to sports development throughout the country.
