Passenger Arrested In Guyana For Curry Cocaine

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A judge has lowered bail to $30,000 for an American man accused of smuggling cocaine worth $1.3 million.

Franklin Bourgos, of Florida, has been in prison since September 17, despite being granted $125,000 cash bail after prosecutors claimed he was a flight risk.

Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson reduced the bail to $30,000 with two to three sureties after Bourgos wasn’t able to come up with the cash.

Bourgos faces charges of charges of drug possession with intent to supply, conspiracy to possess drugs with intent to supply and illegal landing.

Prosecutors allege that Bourgos began to jettison bags of cocaine into the sea after the crew of HMBS Kamalame intercepted his boat in Warderick Wells Cay in the Exumas on September 13.
