TEXAS – A federal judge is blocking Texas from requiring public schools to display the Ten Commandments in every classroom.

The ruling comes just weeks before the law was set to take effect September 1st.

Families and faith leaders argued it violates the First amendment’s protections for religious freedom.

In his 55-page order , U.S. district Judge Fred Biery said students would likely have questions about the posters that teachers would feel pressured to answer.

Texas is the third state where such laws have been blocked, following Louisiana and Arkansas. supporters say the Ten Commandments are part of America’s legal foundation, but the case is expected to head to the Supreme court.
