UNITED STATES – Instagram users under 16 won’t be able to livestream or unblur nudity in direct messages without a parent’s ok.

Meta says it’s stepping up teen safety across Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.

The move builds on parental controls launched last year to help monitor teen activity.

Other protections include blocking direct messages from strangers, setting accounts to private by default, and reminding teens to log off after 60 minutes.

The updates roll out first in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia before going global in the coming months.
