UNITED KINGDOM – King Charles the Third is set to speak candidly about his cancer diagnosis and recovery in a television broadcast Friday night, using his own experience to encourage early screening.

The recorded message will air at 8pm. On Britain’s channel 4, marking a rare moment of personal transparency from a reigning monarch.

The king announced nearly 2 years ago that he was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, a departure from royal tradition, where health matters are typically kept private.

Buckingham {alace said at the time he chose to share his diagnosis to avoid speculation and to help others better understand cancer.

With cancer research U.K. reporting that the impact was immediate, with a 33% spike in website visits as people sought information on warning signs.

The king stepped back from public engagements for about 2 months, but continued state business, returning to public duties last April during a visit to a London Cancer Treatment Centre.
