GRAND BAHAMA , BAHAMAS – With Parliament now dissolved, a number of people turned out at the very last minute in Grand Bahama.

Our News team was there as long lines wrapped around the Parliamentary Registration Department in Freeport.

That sentiment echoed loudly across Grand Bahama that day, as residents lined up outside the Parliamentary Registration Department in downtown Freeport, all determined to secure their right to vote before the deadline.

The line stretched around the building, a clear sign of a last-minute rush, as that day marked the final opportunity for registration following the dissolution of Parliament.

We spoke with several residents waiting patiently, including Jessica Wallace Whitfield, who shared why she waited until the final hours.

However, not everyone walked away satisfied.

Jerry Lightbourne expressed frustration after being asked to provide a passport, saying the experience discouraged him from continuing the process.

Meanwhile, others, like resident Anthony Green, saw that day as their only window of opportunity.

And while many were focused on registering, some residents, like Patricia Bullard and Adrian Gilbert, already had their voting decisions in mind.

Now, several satellite registration stations were set up across the island.

Dr. Cecil Thompson, a consultant with the Parliamentary Registration Department, said the increase in numbers had been significant. He explained that staff worked until 3 a.m. to keep up with the nonstop flow of residents.
