NBA and College Basketball Update

Friday was a slow night for Bahamians in the NBA.

VJ Edgecombe scored 10 points on 4-of-13 shooting in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 109-102 loss to the Chicago Bulls. The combo guard from Bimini also had seven rebounds and three assists but struggled from range, missing all five of his 3-point attempts.

Joel Embiid led the 76ers with 31 points, while Tyrese Maxey added 27 points and eight assists. Tre Jones and Zach Collins scored 15 points apiece off the bench to lead the Bulls.

Edgecombe will look to bounce back when the 76ers face Oklahoma City on Sunday.

Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks are set to take the court tonight against the Sacramento Kings.

In college basketball, Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin and the Mississippi Rebels return from Christmas break to face Alcorn State in their final nonconference game of the season before entering SEC play.
