ABACO, BAHAMAS – Two philanthropic organizations were back on the island of Abaco last week, conducting their third round of free cataract surgeries to residents.

Liquid Legacy and the World Cataract Foundation recognized the need for speciality medical services post Hurricane Dorian, and they’ve been answering the call ever since.

The Marsh Harbour Medical Center was the site for hundreds of residents looking to improve their eyesight.

Now in it’s third cycle, the word is spreading and Health Minister, Dr. Michael Darville, shared that residents from across the north are now taking advantage of the life changing services.

Executive Director at the World Cataract Foundation, Christie Beech explained why she believes there’s an uptick in cataract cases.

Executive Director of Liquid Legacy, Peet Strydom, now lives on the island and is part of the executive leadership at Abaco Strong.

Strydom share the impact of the cataract surgeries for families.

For those that were unable to be seen by a doctor this time around, Beech said that there will be more opportunities to come.
