NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Operation Thanksgiving is back for a third year, feeding 2,500 people.

United Faith Ministries Senior Pastor Apostle Phalmon Ferguson says the initiative started during the pandemic to help those who fell on hard times.

This year, he says the goal is to just give back.

Cars filled the yard of the church, with grateful residents patiently waiting to get their Thanksgiving meal.

When we got to the church around 11am, the church already served around 300 plates.

Last year, the church aimed at feeding 3,500 people but according to Ferguson, the church dished out 5,000 plates.

This year, that number has been reduced to 2,500 plates.

Ferguson says inflation resulting in the rising cost of food has made putting on the initiative a little harder.

Ferguson says even though the country is bouncing back, he was shocked by what he saw, adding that many are still in need.

He says in putting on initiatives like these a little help goes a long way.
