LONG ISLAND, BAHAMAS – As thousands of students across the country return to school, Our Marlena Leonard is in Long Island this week for an Our News special series. Our Marlena was there for day one as administrators tout their academic success.

Principal Ednal Adderley has been at NGM Major High School for 25 years and says the secret is in parental engagement, and a faculty largely led by alumni of the school. Adderley says that hard work from parents and teachers pays off.

Head Boy Dakarai Turnquest credits their early preparation.

For some, today marked the beginning of their high school experience, like a group of the school’s incoming 7th graders.
