NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man acquitted of murder last December is back in jail facing a new murder charge.

Prosecutors allege that 29-year-old Michael Newland is repsonsible for the fatal shooting of Eric Davis on March 11.

Davis was shot dead by a gunman alleged to be Newland outside a home in Montell Heights.

Newland didn’t have to plead to the murder charge when he appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans.

Bail was denied and Newland returns to court on June 19 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.

Newland wqs acquitted of the 2014 murder of Martin Flauristine following a trial before Justice Renae McKay.
