Man Arraigned for Killing Murder Suspect on Bail

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 32-year-old man is behind bars after being accused of killing a man on bail for murder.

Prosecutors say Dennis Mather fatally shot 44-year-old Dennis Basden at Tyler Street in Chippingham on a October 13.

Basden was about to get into his car Nissan Cube when the occupants of a Nissan Note shot him multiple times, killing him on the spot.

At the time of his death, Basden was on bail in relation to the June 30, 2015 murder of Taraz Hanna, who was shot dead at Wilson Tract.

Mather didn’t have to enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Magistrate Raquel Whymms.

Bail was denied and he returns to court on January 20, 2024 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
