Man Arraigned for Murder of 16-Year-Old

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 26-year-old man is behind bars after being charged with a revenge murder that claimed the life of a teenage girl.

Prosecutors say Keiron Butler is responsible for the January 6 murder of 16-year-old Davinique Gray.

According to police, R M Bailey High School student was killed when a gunman alleged to be Butler opened fire on the victim’s home at Spruce Street in Nassau Village.

Investigators believe that the incident was payback for the January 2 murder of Gerrad Coakley at his home on Datura Avenue in South Beach.

Gamaliel Gray, the boyfriend of the teen’s mother, was charged with Coakley’s murder.The teen’s mother, Shenika Johnson, was charged with harboring a criminal after her daughter’s murder.

Butler, a friend of Coakley, was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge when he appeared before Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr.

Bail was denied and Butler returns to court on May 14 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
