NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man accused of killing his 84-year-old mother is accused of violating his bail conditions.

Prosecutors allege that 53-year-old Sean Laing failed to charge his electronic monitoring device on six occasions.

Laing was on bail awaiting trial for allegations that he strangled his mother Pearl on March 7, 2022.

Prosecutors allege that Laing failed to charge his ankle bracelet on May 17, July 3, July 4, July 5, July 6, and July 7.

Laing admitted that he didn’t charge his device on July 7 but denied letting his battery go dead on the other occasions.

Senior Magistrate Shaka Serville set Laing’s bail at $3,500 with the requirement that he wears an ankle bracelet and checks in at a police station three times a week.

Laing’s trial is set for October.
